Amazing hosts. Have been very helpful with everything we needed. Simple cabins, but if you dont need much, this is perfect. Also if you are staying here I recommend having a vehicle as it is about 3 km down a hill from the heart of las trancas. Not needed as we haven't had one for two months of being here. Great friendly place. Highly recommend.

We are staying here for 2 months at Cafe Cordillera, and it is the true chillean experience. We come from a small Canadian town like Las Trancas and we instantly felt at home. Our hosts Salvador y Maglalaina are INCREDIBLE. It is a 40min walk to get to Central Las Trancas but they are so helpful and will ask us if we need rides and Salvador has become a guide when we ski showing us what is safe and not safe. They speak little English but to be fair we speak little Spanish and we are in Chile, but no matter what they Google translate to speak and accommade ALL of our needs. The restaurant is very delicious and charming and I love that the cabins are heated by wood burning stoves. We have learned a lot about the culture surrounding the Andes and have learned to be more giving because our hosts are so helpful and will drop anything to help us. Even if we don't ask. They are making us grow as people 100% and we are very lucky and humble to meet such huge hearted people. We got very lucky booking here as we are getting a true experience and we don't mind walking when we need too as we love the scenery surrounding Cafe Cordillera. The bus doesn't come often but we hitch hike a lot because the locals are SO nice!! The whole family has made the trip amazing and even has taken us to Chillan anytime we need too and helped us obtain internet because we don't speak the native language. I never want to leave Chile because of how homie these cabins are and how incredible our hosts have been. We definitely made life long friends and we are in love with this whole experience. Fuimos a tomar un cafecito por la tarde. El chocolate caliente preparado con agua y no con leche. Al verlo demasiado espeso, pedí que me lo rebajen con leche. Me lo trajeron rebajado con... agua. El café con leche tenía la leche hervida, se notaba como se les había pasado el café porque tenía restos de granos de café en la taza. No les quedaba ni una porción de torta, solo nos ofrecieron una “especialidad” de la zona pasada en aceite, un espanto. El lugar acogedor pero algo sucio, lentos en la atención. Le pongo dos estrellas solo porque la chica que nos atendió le puso una sonrisa.
Lugar cálido y ambiente cordillerano. Precios módicos
Maravilloso!, el chocolate caliente más rico del mundo y muy buena atención.
