Good place to try Venezuelan food, the prices goes from 4.000 to 5.000 pesos chilenos, portions are really big and tasteful, there aren't vegetarian options but this isn't that type of place. The ambient is nice but you can see that it is a new place that have many details to improve. I'm not giving it 4 stars because bathrooms were awful, they didn't have a clean toilet or towels and were really little. I really recommend going because it is a great example of how tasteful is food in South America.

El Merendero Venezolano is a lovely, laid back place with delicious and inexpensive food. The service staff was super attentive and every dish we had was perfect. The two of us left super full and after tip we paid less than 13.000 CLP (under 20 USD). One important note - be sure to come hungry not thirsty as this spot doesn’t have beer. :) Overall, this is a great place and you should definitely swing by if you find yourself in Barrio Italia!

Amazing!!! Plan to go back again and again and again. Super cool ambiance, authentic Venezuelan food. It was like taking a mini-vacation getting lost in the food. And they have authentic tropical juices. Again, simply amazing.

Good food but the room we sat in needed more ventilation, very hot. Authentic food according to my Venezuelan friends.

Excellent live Venezualan music every Sunday! The food was priced quite affordable by the standards of Santiago. It was traditional Venezuelan fare which was served in a generous portion. The chicha de maiz, a type of sweet tasting rice drink was an interesting addition, as recommended by one of the patrons to me. I would highly recommend visiting on a Sunday as the live music is of a very high standard. I had the pleasure of listening to some traditional waltzes played on a harp. It was rich and complex music filled with interesting rythmic textures and executed flawlessly. There was no additional charge for the live music. I would come here often if I lived in the area. This is a great way to get to know some Venezuelan culture, which these days forms a significant part of Santiago.

Amazing little find in Barro Itallia, it’s turning out to be the only place I want breakfast lunch and dinner on top of that. CAKE!! Great speedy service and cool bohemian vibe.
